This episode is hilarious and intense. Andy Hanson is an intense guy and I love hanging out with him. I met Andy back in 2016 when he was running Gunway and had me out to the store to teach classes and helped me get my business going. He has served in the South Dakota National Guard for over 20 years, is a GWOT veteran having served in Iraq and Afghanistan, and he is a husband and father. He was also very candid in talking about what it’s like for soldiers returning home, and how he managed to get “bored” while in combat. This one is a gem!

It’s been one year since I started the podcast! Thanks for listening! Last week I was out in Pierre with my buddy Jeremy Williams for a training class. I suggested we go shoot prairie dogs in the Fort Pierre National Grassland the day before. I had done this many times, he never had. We talk about that, shooting, our love of Mexican food, and we sip whiskey out of hotel paper coffee cups.

Dad’s funeral was this past Thursday, August 31, 2023. My family has received dozens of messages, social media comments, and other incredible tributes written and sent to us, which was eye opening. We had no idea how much he meant to other people and how many people he touched. As I was working on the obituary, Mom said “We need to make fun of him, too.” So that’s what this episode is. You will hear Sydney Powers, my nieces best friend and friend of Dad’s, read a number of the kind notes that were sent to us. Then I tell several fun stories about Dad.
